This policy explains what information Smart Link collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Smart Link is operated by Babar Khan ("we", "us"). We keep data collection to what the service needs.
Information we collect
From account holders
- Account details: your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Your links: app names, link names, and the App Store, Google Play and website URLs you add.
- Plan and billing status: which plan you're on. If you buy a paid plan, Paddle handles your card details; we never see or store them. We store your Paddle customer and subscription IDs to keep your plan in sync.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, such as support requests.
From people who open a link
When someone opens a Smart Link link, we record:
- which link was opened and when;
- the type of device: iPhone/iPad, Android, or other;
- the visitor's country, worked out by our hosting provider from the connection;
- the website they came from (for example instagram.com), if their browser shares it;
- the campaign name in the link, if the link owner added one (for example ?utm_source=newsletter).
We read the browser's user agent to work out the device type and to skip counting link-preview bots, but we don't store the user agent, IP address, city or any identifier for the visitor. We don't set cookies on people who open links, and we don't build profiles of them. Link owners see these details only as totals.
Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views on our website. It doesn't use cookies and reports aggregated, anonymous data.
How we use information
- to run the service: redirect visitors, show your click statistics and apply plan limits;
- to keep your account secure and prevent abuse such as phishing links;
- to send emails you need, such as sign-up confirmation, password resets and billing notices;
- to answer support requests and improve the product.
We don't sell personal data and we don't use it for advertising.
Cookies and local storage
On our website and dashboard we use your browser's local storage to keep you logged in and to remember a link you started filling in before signing up. These are needed for the site to work. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run Smart Link, under agreements that protect it:
- Supabase: database and login;
- Vercel: website hosting and anonymous analytics;
- Paddle (Paddle.com, our merchant of record): payments, invoices and sales tax for paid plans;
These providers may process data outside your country. We also disclose data if the law requires it.
How long we keep data
- Account and link data: while your account is open.
- Click records: while your account is open, so you can see your statistics.
- When you delete your account, we delete your account, links and click records within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as billing records.
Your rights
You can see and edit your links in the dashboard at any time. You can also ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and all its data by emailing support@your-domain.com. If you live in the EU, UK or a place with similar laws, you can also object to processing or complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and database rules make sure each account can only see its own links and statistics.
Children
Smart Link is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell account holders by email.
